Floam-filled flotation tanks

12. Foam-filled flotation tanks

Our flotation tanks are filled with foam. You would think all canoe builders would do this, but they often don’t. It’s not a feature we expect you’ll need, as they are also watertight (except for a small breathing hole at the top). But if you ever do need it, won’t you be glad you bought a Souris River?

Removable front thwart

13. Removable front thwart

Most canoes can be paddled solo simply by turning them around and sitting on the bow seat facing the stern. All you have to do is throw your legs over that thwart that is usually in the way. If you find that uncomfortable, buy a Souris River Canoe. All our front thwarts are bolted on, so they can easily be removed. Just don’t lose the hardware - we use quality stainless steel bolts and locknuts. (Since 2010, our canoes are built with removable front and rear thwarts.)
