Heavy-gauge aluminum

6. Heavy-gauge aluminum

We use heavier gauge aluminum than most (if not all) of our competitors in our gunwales and seat brackets. We know you’ll take good care of your canoe. But we know what wilderness tripping is like, and that there will be scrapes along the way. (Don’t worry - our canoes are still light. See point #15.)

four-layer layup

7. Four-layer layup

We use four full layers of fabric in all of our canoes. Most builders use fewer layers. One major builder of KEVLAR® canoes uses three along the bottom, and only two on the sides. Some even piece together smaller pieces of fabric, leading to delamination down the line. We believe you deserve a strong canoe, so we use four layers, end to end, gunwale to gunwale, every time.
