Souris River Canoes and the McGuffins
Souris River Canoes is proud to know the McGuffin family. For over two decades, Gary and Joanie have been a tireless voice for protecting the health of wilderness waterways. Through their journeys, writing, photography, and multi-media presentations, they inspire within us a sense of wonder about the planet we live on.
“All paddlers can be especially good ambassadors for our rivers, lakes, and coastlines,” explains Joanie, “since we experience Nature first hand and see our human impacts. The paddling community needs to promote solutions to these problems”.
Gary, Joanie and Sila, have paddled extensively throughout Quetico Park in Souris River Wilderness 18 canoes while working on a centennial celebration book of the Park.

They are founders of the Lake Superior Conservancy and Watershed Council, an international non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the health of the Lake Superior watershed.
